Recently the owner of Putsch Racing worked with The Ohio State University’s Buckeye Current electric GP motorcycle racing team as he served as the test rider for their new prototype, the RW2. The team was under the gun busily building their motorcycle in hopes of competing in the 2013 Isle of Mann TT. Their class being the world competitive electric powered machines that are pushing technology’s forefront. The tests were recently carried out at Honda’s Transportation Research Center, just outside of Marysville, Ohio.
Preparing any new racing vehicle is no small feat for professionals and doing so as full-time college students is nothing short of heroic. The Buckeye Current team is comprised of students that engineer, design, and create their prototype racing motorcycles out of OSU’s Center for Automotive Research which is headed by Dr. Giorgio Rizonni. This team and the other student projects are incredible opportunities for bright young minds to shine.

Having been an Ohio State graduate and a member of the student project’s Formula SAE racing team, Casey Putsch certainly appreciates the opportunities he had in college and enjoys modern technologies. Opportunities that have helped him realize his successes past and present. Utilizing his automotive and motorcycle racing and building experience, Casey enjoyed helping the Buckeye Current team, even if in a small way as their test rider.
Having only two days of testing, the student team was able to isolate and eliminate the prototype’s bugs and extract competitive performance. Casey was excited for the team as they had engineered a solid platform that he felt is fully capable of being a sound racing machine. Seeing the students logically and confidently solve problems and develop their machine under duress was an impressive sight. Casey noted that the students were a pleasure to work with, very professional, and dedicated.

Only three days after its final test, the RW2 was crated for its journey to the Isle of Mann! Putsch Racing wishes the Buckeye Current team good fortune in the big race and a memorable journey. A respectful nod to all of the team’s supporters and sponsors.

This particular car was configured like the early mark 8 Can-Am car,but was painted in Martini and Rossi livery to match our client’s Porsche race car. If you have an amazing race car, how can you say no to such a cool pit vehicle? The only question is- Will the client have more fun on the track or in the pits? Racing your fully prepared race car at a famous road racing circuit or powersliding this little McLaren around your competetor’s scooter on the way to the Saturday night driver’s party…. We are currently building a replica of the McLaren M8 stilt-wing team car and will be racing around the pits at the SVRA race at Mid-Ohio in style.

All karts are created utilizing modern kart racing parts including hydraulic disc brakes, aluminum race wheels, racing compound slick tires, and should be considered racing vehicles in their own right! This is not simply a toy. Options include fiberglass or carbon fiber bodies, electric or pull start, 4 or 2 stroke engines from stock to full race!

This event will also coincide with the Porsches to Granville. This event will also be a part of their schedule, and shall be the best year yet.

You are invited to attend this very special day combining fine cars and “the sport of kings” in a most family friendly environment. Studio 47 and Putsch Racing will be raising money for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, and inviting anyone with a car of interest to join them for a Concours d’Elegance and in the catered VIP tent at mid-field. Owners will be asked to make a modest minimum suggested donation upon entering. Fine cars will be directed to special parking that is along side the playing field! Expect to see fine European and American exotics, classics, sports, and even historic racing cars among the beautiful Thoroughbred horses.

Friendly competition and rivalry will be at hand as one team will represent the Ferrari and Lamborghini restoration facility “Studio 47″ and the other will represent the race car preparation, restoration, and prototype building shop “Putsch Racing”. The owner of the latter, Casey Putsch, will personally be competing in this match as well.

Bring your entire family and enjoy this most relaxing time. Plan on making a lovely day of it. While there will be tents for shade and some light refreshments, families and couples are urged to take part in the atmosphere with picnic lunches, blankets, and folding chairs along the playing field side lines. Spectators enjoy the tradition of the sport by taking part in the “divot stomp” during halftime and many ladies love the opportunity to break out the fashionable big hats and summer dresses.

At Putsch Racing, we are as much about cars and vintage racing as we are about family. This vintage 1967 Barnhard Engineering Formula 6 kart was purchased by an International client whom had us restore it to it’s vintage glory. Uncovering this rare British kart in the US was exciting enough, but to have the client want us to restore the kart for his 1 year-old daughter is full-circle excitment. Charmingly so, this young lady will get to learn to drive in an actual vintage baby grand prix car. It has been a pleasure to help an automotive family grow closer together through cars.

The car was modeled off of the winning Sebring Corvettes of the late 50′s and early 60′s which ran complete interiors and hardtops. You can purchase this car with confidence as it has been maintained, prepared, and raced by professionals. As described, its currently set up for racing but does have an electric fans, lights, turn signals, horn, and a clear title! It turns heads every where it goes and crowds gather when shown including the Bobby Rahal Rally For the Ranch. It has been featured in local magazines as well as featured in Autoweek and Vintage Motorsports magazine. If ever you had interest in C1 Corvettes, this may be the one for you.

Early in 2012, the car was completely disassembled and rebuilt including new Strange Engineering Race axles, new Yukon gear set, new Eaton Posi Trac with new carrier and clutch pack, new Quarter Master Pro triple disc clutch, new Hoosier Street TD tires, and many many other new componets. The interior was completely restored using period correct materials sourced in Texas including the one year only 1958 Corvette red vinyl. New dash pad, carpet, and custom, period correct seats, upholstered in the same vinyl purchased in Texas and set to Connecticut to be made by craftsmen, by hand. The hardtop is an original piece with original un touched vinyl to match. The period correct SunPro tach looks fantastic and is easy to read, as are the Stewart Warner gauges used in lieu of the 1958 Corvette gauges.Period correct Offenhouser valve covers sit atop the fresh small block race-built motor with rebuilt Holly 750 Double Pumper and new black AN fittings and new braided stainless fuel lines. The motor is mated to a perfect Borg Warner Super T-10 transmission and Hurt 4-speed shifter. Every fluid has ben changed, every nut and bolt has removed, checked, replaced if needed, and re torqued, and the car was recently rewired. The fuel system is an ATL fuel cell with Fram racing filter and external fuel cell.

Modifications for racing include a custom 4 point roll bar that does not intrude in entering or exiting the vehicle and blends in behind the seats. A brand new fire suppression system was added and hidden from view as well. The electric cut-off switch has been hidden in the fuel door rather than mounted on the body for a clean, hidden look.
